Bravo TV, an ambitious bet

70 years after its birth, Argentine television continues to add channels of national origin. On Monday 7, at the prestigious Malba MuseumBravo TV was launched, the new open television digital channel that was born from the merger of Profile and Group Chronicle. This project aims at programming for the whole family and has an innovative journalistic and entertainment proposal that will be available from Monday, March 14. Bravo TV’s slogan is “The people’s channel”.

The presentation was in charge of Sebastian Beltrami, CEO of the Area of Profile Television, and Facundo Pedrino, director of Crónica TV, beside Jorge Fontevecchia –co-founder of Editorial Perfil and CEO of Perfil Network– and Raúl Olmos –head of Grupo Crónica–, authorities of both companies and protagonists of the signal’s contents. Beltrami highlighted: “Our purpose is to deliver quality content that moves our audience. A family channel, for everyone”. He added that it is a very important moment for Argentine television because a new TV channel represents a job opportunity for workers in the industry.

Contents. Bravo TV will have three newscasts and a live magazine, and to this are added successful fictions from different countries such as Brazil, Mexico and Colombia. Profile will provide the technical, commercial, operational team and entertainment content, and Crónica will be in charge of journalistic and general interest programming with figures from their studios.

“A very strong and outstanding programming is coming, which entertains and informs,” ​​said Beltrami in his speech, and explained that the telenovelas that will be broadcast achieved record audiences in other countries. One is “Destilando amor”, a Mexican version of “Café con aroma de mujer”. Another will be “The Body of Desire”, the soap opera that is all the rage in the United States in which a rich man dies and is reincarnated as a humble driver. In addition, they will be “Avenue brazil”the region’s iconic novel, and “Metastasis”adaptation of the famous “Breaking Bad”. and the Colombians “Lala’s Spa” and “Rosario Scissors”the brazilian “Wanting without Limits”, the classic “La Usurpadora” and the European gem shot in Latin America, “Indomitable Land”, which has Argentine actors.

They will be on the morning news Barbi Pereira Corvalán and Leo Rossi, that already share screen in TV Chronicle. The midday broadcast will be led by Esteban “El Pelado” Trebucq, an iconic figure on that same channel. And at night they will drive “Bravo Nius” journalists Lorena Toso and Javier Borelli, former director of the newspaper Argentinian time. In addition there will be correspondents in Mar del Plata, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Mendoza, Misiones and Santa Cruz.

The magazine “Las Bravas” will be hosted by Amalia Díaz Guiñazú, Amira Hidalgo, Mariana Diarco and Rosanna Gonzálezthe journalist who made the first broadcast – together with Gustavo Chapur– from Chronicle TV, on January 3, 1994.

Regarding the contents of the program, which the Jorge Fontevecchia defined as “non-political, oriented to a less politicized sector of society”, Trebucq was in tune and assured: “Journalists must interpret who sees and reads us. I don’t talk about what interests me, I talk about what we think the audience is interested in. I will continue with my style, more updated to a noon newscast”.

For its part, Jorge Fontevecchia highlighted: “The inauguration in 2015 of our building, built especially to house free-to-air TV and radio studios, digital and graphic newsrooms, marked the beginning of our journey to become a multimedia company and the launch of Bravo TV is a step forward more in that direction. Regarding the association with Grupo Crónica, which was already a client of Perfil when printing its newspapers in our facilities, we are enthusiastic about deepening our relationship through this new undertaking”.

At the launch in which Fontevechhia and Olmos also officiating as hosts were Marcelo Carbone, vice president of Grupo Crónica; Liliana Parodi, former programming manager for América TV; Carlos Lorefice Lynch, director of El Nueve; Agustino Fontevecchia, head of Digital and Multimedia Content at Editorial Perfil; television producers Martin Caramella, Esteban Farfán, Jorge Chernick and Ignacio Viale; Marcelo Figueiras, president of Richmond laboratories, and costume designer Héctor Vidal Rivas, among other personalities.
