Brands in focus – UEFA against pizza: The “Mushroom League” annoys the association

Berlin (AP) – The European Football Union UEFA is bothered by a pizza called “Mushrooms League” from Giessen.

The umbrella organization asked a German manufacturer of frozen pizzas to withdraw the trademark application. The name is very similar to the football Champions League, with which UEFA earns several hundred million euros every year. The company “Pizza Cloud” published a corresponding letter from a lawyer on Instagram.

As is usual in such cases, “our trademark attorneys will write to the commercial company and politely ask them to withdraw their trademark,” UEFA said when asked by dpa. The statement emphasizes that it is a major commercial enterprise and not just a single small pizzeria.
