Brand rights taken over by Spanish Victrix Group

The German clothing provider Gerry Weber has found a new home. The international trademark rights were taken over by the Spanish Victrix Group as part of an asset deal.

In the preliminary insolvency proceedings of the Holdinggesellschaft Gerry Weber International GmbH, the provisional creditor committee approved the takeover concept of the Spanish family company, the westphalia -based clothing provider said on Friday. The preliminary administrator Lucas Flöther also approved the plan. Notification of the economic details of the agreement was agreed. The news was first announced in a press release on the restart of the Dutch Gerry Weber branches.

“Despite the considerable time pressure, we were able to complete the investor process for Gerry Weber, which started in March. The Victrix Group, which only produces in Europe, is planning to restart the Gerry Weber brand using its own structures. According to this, the first Gerry Weber collection is already created for the fourth quarter “by the network” of the Spanish group, “to ensure that it preserves its distinctive identity and complies with the highest standards in terms of quality and style”, according to the message. This is then to be sold in the Wholesale in Germany and other European countries.

However, this step also means that the approximately 40 German stores and outlets that are currently still available, as well as shops in other European countries are closed. An exception is the Dutch market. There, the Spanish group, which also includes the Punt Roma brand, is planning a restart with the Naura Groep, the insolvency administrator said in the Netherlands. The Naura Groep is the parent company of the retailer van Uffelen and the brands Claudia Sträter and Expresso.

The Naura Groep will operate the branches in the Netherlands. The doors are opened again in at least eight branches in the Netherlands. This will happen shortly. “It is also checked whether the activities can also be continued in other branches.

In March 2025, the German parent company Gerry Weber International GmbH applied for bankruptcy proceedings on their own administration. The company has already undergone several bankruptcy proceedings and restructuring in recent years. The corporate structure was simplified, the number of branches was reduced and its own retail activities were discontinued in Austria.

Punt Roma owner takes over Gerry Weber

Gerry Weber fits in the portfolio of the Spanish Victrix Group because it resembles the Punt Roma brand stylistically. The brand, whose customers are described on the website as “dynamic, enthusiastically and full of personality”, offers sizes from 38 to 54 in order to meet all types of figures. It was founded in 1997 and has 400 branches in 32 countries.

“Gerry Weber fits perfectly with our core brand Punt Roma,” comments the management of the Victrix Group. “We are expanding our position in the upscale middle price segment, especially in Central and Eastern Europe, where Gerry Weber has a high level of awareness. By converting sourcing and production to our existing structures, we will ensure that there will be a seamless transition inside for trade and the final customer.”
