Bram Moszkowicz thinks that the Meilandjes lied about the reason for their Talpa exit. He thinks that the reality family was mainly looking for a higher TV salary. “It was a common trick.”
The Meilandjes, also known in the corridors of Talpa as the Graailandjes, have switched to RTL for big money. The right-wing conservative reality stars have been hired by progressive TV boss Peter van der Vorst. Apparently the new RTL owner DPG Media wants to get rid of Peter’s left-wing course, thinks TV critic Victor Vlam.
Nonsense story
According to Victor, it is a change of course for RTL. “De Meilandjes to RTL is a really surprising switch. This is an indication that RTL is going to take a more popular course. PVV sympathizer Erica is a difficult fit for a course where programs such as LUBACH are the main focus,” he writes. X.
The credibility of the Meilandjes is under pressure, because they claimed that they stopped at Talpa because they were so done with TV. “That is a nonsense story. They simply wanted more money. Clear. Anyway, this is a blow to Talpa,” he says. “A lot of money was made from this.”
Typical SBS 6
TV authority Tina Nijkamp wonders whether this will work. She thinks the Meilandjes are ‘typical SBS 6’. “The Meilandjes are jeopardizing their credibility in this way. Exchange leads to crying, I think. I think it is a very nice family and completely understand it from a TV perspective, but on all sides I think this is a very stupid move.”
She continues in De Telegraaf: “Now they run the risk of being seen as a bunch of money grubbers. It was also not communicated well in terms of publicity. It is a very stupid choice on both sides. RTL always said not to do second-hand, yet they tried it before with the Paleis for next to nothing duo and Lubach.”
Transparent
Wilfred Genee has doubts Today Inside also to the credibility of the Meilandjes. “They were tired! They were done! It was over!”
Colleague Johan Derksen: “It was so transparent. They wanted to drive John de Mol crazy, saying: then he would throw in a few extra pounds. But he did not do that. I think John de Mol is very satisfied that they have gone crazy.”
Wilfred: “You said they had a meeting with him recently, right?”
Crybabies
Johan recently revealed that the Meilandjes were in talks with John de Mol. “Yes, they had a conversation with him,” he repeats. “So they did try, but at some point you have to be done with it.”
He continues: “Of course they remain hysterical crybabies. Aren’t those daughters also sniffed by the rats? I think it’s a horror that family.”
Traitors
VI star Chris Woerts thinks it’s wrong. “They’re a bit of traitors, aren’t they? Because they first milked everything at De Mol and now they’re going there. Go, one more euro, get out!”
Johan: “And that Peter got into it!”
Chris: “RTL wants more of a popular character. Peter van der Vorst has turned it into a bit of an elite club and they want to get back to basics.”
Bram critical
Bram Moszkowicz expresses himself at the desk of Show news critical. “Isn’t it true that they just pitted two channels against each other? A salary negotiation. Isn’t it in fact just an ordinary trick to get more money?”
Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden: “That quickly gets them labeled as ‘money grubbers’ and I don’t know if that makes you more sympathetic.”
‘Be honest!’
Show news reporter Janine Schuinder thinks it is fake that the Meilandjes first shouted that they were so tired of TV. “Then you should recover from it for at least a year, instead of diving into the media again after three months.”
She concludes: “Why didn’t they just say: ‘Yes, we just want more money’? Why didn’t they say that in the media? Why did they say they were tired and wanted to recover? Then you’re just being honest?”
