At FC Augsburg there is movement in the central defense. Maximilian Bauer has already left FCA for Arminia Bielefeld after his loan, and Keven Schlotterbeck is also set to move away. On the other hand, Calvin Brackelmann from SC Paderborn is on the approach. Transfermarkt can confirm corresponding information from “Sky” and “Kicker”.

Brackelmann will move from the newly promoted Bundesliga team to Fuggerstadt on a free transfer after his contract ends. An agreement has been reached with the 26-year-old. The transfer will be officially announced in the next few days. The deal, like the one three years ago for SCP, was negotiated by Benjamin Weber, who is now sports director at FCA. Brackelmann came to Paderborn from FC Ingolstadt in the summer of 2023 and developed into a regular at East Westphalia. Last season, the 1.96 meter tall defender played in 24 second division games and was involved in four goals. He was also seeded in the relegation match against VfL Wolfsburg and prepared the 1-1 draw in the second leg.
With a market value of 1.5 million euros, the Lüneburg native is one of the most valuable second division professionals with a contract that ends in 2026. He will continue to climb in the upcoming update of the 2nd Bundesliga on June 1st.
FC Augsburg: Is Schlotterbeck planning to say goodbye?
Schlotterbeck’s working paper, however, still runs for another year, but the 29-year-old reportedly wants to look for a new challenge. He is said to have already informed those responsible about this. The reason for this is that he wants more playing time at another club. At the end of the season he lost his regular place after a yellow card suspension and was only used for 15 minutes from matchday 29 onwards. But even before that, he is said to have already thought about saying goodbye.
In 2024, Schlotterbeck came to Augsburg from SC Freiburg for 2.5 million euros and has played 48 games since then, some of them as captain. A replacement is available in Brackelmann. According to the current status, Chrislain Matsima, Noahkai Banks, captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Cédric Zesiger and youngster Felix Meiser are also part of next season’s squad in central defense.
Arthur Chaves, on loan, returns to TSG Hoffenheim. According to the “Kicker”, the purchase option of 6 million euros will not be exercised. Also because there is a wide range of options for coach Manuel Baum in this position. On the other hand, reinforcements are still being sought for the flanks and in the attacking midfield.
