BR Volleys in the Champions League before the end

The BR Volleys are facing elimination in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The German champions clearly lost to co-favorites Trentino Volley from Italy in the first leg in their own hall with 0:3 (18:25, 17:25, 17:25).

In the second leg on Thursday in a week, coach Joel Banks’ Berlin team needs at least a 3-1 win to force a deciding set of up to 15 points, the so-called “golden set”.

In Berlin, the hosts never managed to put enough pressure on the favorites. The best point collector in the Italian championship leader’s star ensemble was world champion Daniele Lavia. The outside attacker had 21 points.

The best scorer for the Berliners was the Czech diagonal attacker Marek Sotola with nine points.

For the German series champions, the premier class has already ended in the quarter-finals in each of the last three years – and in each case against an Italian team. 2021 and 2022 against Trentino, 2023 against champions Perugia.
