Boys (17 and 19) held after gay abuse: ‘It’s nice that they were caught’

Two Eindhoven residents, aged 17 and 19, have been arrested for assaulting three men. That happened near the Stratumseind ​​entertainment area in Eindhoven. The police suspect that the three victims were abused because they are homosexual. They were seriously injured.

The assault happened on the night of Saturday to Sunday, July 30. The three men walked home around four o’clock at night after a nightcap in the gay pub De Regenboog. When they walked across the Oude Stadsgracht, they were approached by the two suspects. “They asked where we had something to drink,” one of the victims (27) previously told Omroep Brabant. “When we told them that, they asked if we were gay. We said yes.”

A few moments later the pair started kicking and punching the victims. One of the victims was knocked unconscious by a kick to the head. While the other two tried to drag him away, they too were hit. All three victims were seriously injured and required hospital treatment.

‘Terrible that he is a minor’
“It’s nice that they were caught,” one of the victims told Omroep Brabant on Thursday afternoon. “I find it intense to hear that a suspect is a minor.”

The victim is now doing better. “I just came back from holiday. I went out there and walked back home alone. I didn’t think about it anymore, so I think it didn’t do much damage to me mentally.”

There are camera images of the suspects and the assault. The police are investigating further. The suspects are still in custody and will be heard later.
