Boxing trainer Ulli Wegner is again in the hospital. The 79-year-old fell in his Berlin house on New Year’s morning and sustained a fractured femur in his right leg.
“I wanted to go to the toilet in the dark and got my left leg caught on the heater. So it came to a fall,” Wegner told the “Bild” newspaper (Wednesday). A similar mishap happened to him in 2019. He had broken his left thigh after falling down stairs.
The world champion trainer had an operation on his leg and was also given an artificial hip joint. “I can’t help it, I’ll fight. I’m in very good hands here at UKB,” he said. Wegner has to stay in the hospital for several weeks.
