In the end there was only one winner in the second duel between heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk and former champion Tyson Fury, but in the end both boxing stars were able to feel like winners – because both cash registers were ringing more than well.
Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury have obviously had their second mega-fight heavily gilded. This emerges from the figures for the fight, which have now been published by the Ukrainian online newspaper “Pravda”.
According to the portal, 60 percent of the fight exchange went to Oleksandr Usyk, the remaining 40 percent to Tyson Fury. In concrete terms, this means: The Ukrainian received a total of 100 million euros for the fight, while the Englishman received a whopping 80 million euros.
Usyk increases his income
The first fight in February 2024 had already brought both boxers a lucrative payday. At that time, however, the total purse for the fight was “only” around 140 million euros. The rematch was worth a total of 40 million euros more.
The second duel paid off especially for Usyk, who was fobbed off with a 30:70 split in the first fight. Now there was a whopping 30 percent more for the old and new champion.
Taxes don’t stop at the boxing giant either
Annoying for the “Gypsy King”: He will have to pay a large part of his income to the state in the form of taxes. A spokesman for the “Jeff Bet” portal told “Give Me Sport” that Fury would soon be out of almost 34 million euros. However, it is not known how high the taxes are for Usyk.
Like the first showdown between the two superstars, the rematch also took place in the Saudi metropolis of Riyadh. The state paid a lot for this pleasure. The stock exchanges were also improved by the sale of the broadcasting rights, all of which ultimately ended up with pay-TV broadcasters.
