The 39-year-old boxer was at times heroic and stoic, after Daniele Scardina’s knockout in Milan he was looking for a happy epilogue in his great career, that is, attempting to win the continental belt. It wasn’t easy, but he tried everything to contain a tetragon opponent, in the presence of the freshest holder and always incessant in his blows. In the long run, De Carolis would have lost on points because despite some uppercuts and hooks, he was unable to seriously undermine his opponent who, instead, always tried to bring our boxer onto the ropes. In terms of quantity of blows delivered, the Frenchman dominated, but the resistance and courage to accept the match even from short distances were admirable in the Roman expert who was a world super middleweight champion. There were 6 years of difference in favor of Sadjo, unbeaten in 22 matches with 19 knockouts against the 33 victories and at this point 11 defeats for the Italian challenger (16 knockouts and also a draw). The two 75kg boxers gave life to a pleasant, intense match, with the Frenchman’s drumming rhythm giving no escape. There was no respite for the combative Italian and great scorer, who was at his best between the fourth and fifth rounds. The signs of Giovanni’s failure could already be seen in the 7th round; then the combination of the eighth that bent the resistance and a little the legs of De Carolis, a great professional, scrupulous and serious like few others, who in recent years has had to wait and ultimately fight against the same identity card as him.
