Bouckhuyt wins BK 100 kilometers running

Zwevezele is once again the heart of the running sport during the fourth edition of the ‘Vandewalle Metaal Pinksterlopen’. The organization was even allowed to prepare for the Flemish and Belgian 100 kilometers championship. Although the number of participants was previously limited, the organization can look back on a successful edition.

In total there are three rain-out races during the Whitsun Run: the 10 kilometers, the 50 kilometers and the 100 kilometers as the pinnacle. The participants are presented with a course of about 5 kilometers.

Outgoing Belgian champion Wouter Decock from Bruges was unable to attend due to an injury. The other West Flemish topper Matthew Bouckhuyt from Zwevezele was present. He is running a home race and has prepared himself for this championship down to the last detail.

The Zwevezelenaar starts quietly. After about 70 kilometers he takes over the lead and does not relinquish it. In the end, he wins in 7 hours and 22 minutes. A great achievement, with which Bouckhuyt is of course very satisfied.
