Polonaise is not yet being held in and around the Philips Stadium. PSV had a dream week by beating FC Utrecht and FC Twente with big scores. The party should continue in France on Tuesday evening. In Guingamp, PSV can secure the next round of the Champions League (CL) against Stade Brest.
PSV’s performances in the top matches against FC Utrecht and FC Twente were impressive. While some want to give the title to the people of Eindhoven, Bosz remains cautious. “Football is that opportunistic. After we lost to Ajax, the stronghold crumbled and now we are already champions. I don’t participate in that.”
But despite the rain pouring down in Guingamp, the sun is figuratively shining over PSV. “I am also very satisfied with what we are showing at the moment. But things could be completely different after Tuesday. A bad match is always around the corner.”
“Making choices is not difficult, but it can be very annoying.”
Anyone who hears the trainer talking would almost suspect that he senses an off day coming tomorrow. “No,” the trainer refutes that comment. “I am vigilant about the fact that we will perform the same in every match as we have in recent weeks. That was our strength last year and it is great that we are showing that again this season. Tomorrow the matches against FC Utrecht and Twente do not count. more.”
PSV traveled to France with an almost fit selection. Only Sergino Dest and Couhaib Driouech are still injured. Jerdy Schouten and Joey Veerman are in the selection. And so the choices increase. “But that is not difficult. However, in some cases it can be very annoying. Sometimes more than eleven players deserve a starting place, but then you have to disappoint someone. That is not fun, but it is part of my job.”
“If we are already on eleven points after tomorrow, that would be great.”
By the way, Jerdy Schouten will start from the bench. Joey Veerman seems to be able to start in the starting line-up.
PSV can almost certainly reach the next round on Tuesday evening. If you win, you get eleven points and according to the data models, that is enough to reach the intermediate round of the Champions League. “If we are on eleven points after tomorrow, that would be great. But we shouldn’t worry too much about that. Let’s play that match first. Stade Brest is not an easy opponent.”
The French are currently even above PSV in the CL rankings with two points more. “Just like Shakhtar, they are an unknown team. No one expected them to do so well in the Champions League. That is why we will compete against them with all due respect.”
