The speculation about a possible comeback by Jayson Tatum is coming to an end; the season debut of the Boston Celtics superstar will apparently take place on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.
Like Shams Charania (ESPN) reported on Thursday that Tatum would inform the Celtics of his final decision a few hours before the start of the home game, but he was ready.
The 28-year-old, who has been 28 since Tuesday, suffered a tear in his right Achilles tendon less than ten months ago in the second round of the playoffs against the New York Knicks.
With Tatum’s injury and the departures of Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday and Al Horford, preseason expectations were generally that the Celtics would have to put aside their aspirations for the next title. Little of this was seen in reality, the Celtics are in second place in the Eastern Conference with 41 wins and 21 defeats.
