Boss quake at HSV – Marcell Jansen makes a comeback

Second division soccer team Hamburger SV and the previous CFO Frank Wettstein go their separate ways prematurely. In return, Marcell Jansen is making a comeback at HSV in his old position.

As the traditional club announced on Tuesday, Wettstein has terminated his contract. The 48-year-old took this step “at the request of the supervisory board in order to advance the upcoming planning for the coming season,” said HSV.

Thomas Wüstefeld, previously chairman of the supervisory board of HSV Fußball AG, will complement the board in a provisional role.

His fellow councilors send the 53-year-old to the operational management committee of sports director Jonas Boldt.

Wüstefeld will take over the new areas of responsibility from Thursday for one year, during which time he will be resting his supervisory board mandate.

Club president and ex-national player Marcell Jansen will again assume the role of chairman of the supervisory board for this period. He had only given it to Wüstefeld a few weeks ago.

Wettstein had initially announced his departure at the end of the season at the beginning of November. He came to the Hanseatic League at the end of 2014, which has been consistently in the red for the past decade.
