Borussia Mönchengladbach: Jonas Hofmann extends contract

Jonas Hofmann has become a top performer at Borussia Mönchengladbach in recent years. But his future was uncertain for a long time – until now.

Jonas Hofmann has extended his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach, which expires at the end of the season. The club announced this on Monday. The national player signed a contract until 2025 plus an option for a further year.

“In his six and a half years with us, Jonas has become one of the faces of our team,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. “He has made an impressive development here – first as a regular player and leading player with us and now also as a permanent fixture in the German national team. We are very happy that we were able to convince Jonas to stay with Borussia.”

Hofmann has been playing for Borussia since January 2016, made over 180 competitive games for the “foals” and became a national player there. Under national coach Hansi Flick, he has even become a regular in the DFB selection and is also firmly planned for the World Cup in Qatar. That’s probably why Hofmann didn’t want to risk his good starting position with a change.
