Replacement for Koné & Thuram?

Board member for sport Roland Virkus is pushing ahead with personnel planning at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The transfers of (firm commitment after loan) and Lukas Ullrich (coming from Hertha BSC) have been confirmed, more are to follow. The newspaper quotes around 3 million euros as a fee for the Frenchman, who still has a contract with the Ligue 2 club until 2025. However, Gladbach is not the only interested party, French first division clubs are said to have kept an eye on the right foot, who has been trained in Sochaux since 2017.

Alvero could be a replacement for Manu Koné (contract until 2025), who has been linked with Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain, among others (see the TM rumor mill for an overview). With its sale, the club from the Lower Rhine hopes to generate income of around EUR 30 million, which is in line with the market value, with which new signings such as Alvero could be financed, because Borussia will lose players worth EUR 54.5 million on a free transfer in the summer.

Another professional from France is also reportedly on Gladbach’s wish list. This is Habib Diallo from RC Strasbourg Alsace. The 27-year-old is a centre-forward and could therefore follow Marcus Thuram, who will leave when his contract ends. Diallo has scored 18 goals to date in Ligue 1, which not only puts him in fifth place in the top scorers list, but also drew the attention of other clubs. With a market value of 14 million euros, the Senegalese with a contract until 2025 would be far more expensive than Alvero, according to “Bild” possibly too expensive.
