Borussia Mönchengladbach – Eberl announces talks: “Will make decisions”

Mönchengladbach (dpa) – After the crash at the end of the Hinserie, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sports director Max Eberl announced talks about the turn of the year and hinted at personnel decisions.

In an interview produced and published by the Bundesliga club, Eberl primarily made the team responsible. “We also told the boys and the team in no uncertain terms: Everything that the boys have in their heads that has nothing to do with Borussia or the second half of the season, I would like to have clarified this week,” reported Eberl about one Announcement to the team at the end of the series. “I want everyone to focus on this situation, on this club, on this second half of the season.”

The Champions League quarter-finalist of the previous season fell into relegation after a difficult calendar year in the Bundesliga and after 17 games is only 14th with only 19 points. The second half of the season begins for Borussia on January 7th at Bayern. A week later, Gladbach immediately had to face fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen. “We are already aware of the start. It is very, very ambitious and complicated,” said Eberl.

The 48-year-old therefore asked the professionals to tackle private or professional issues that had not yet been clarified before the training session began on December 29th. “You should clarify it. We will also make a few decisions so that we can then prepare for this complicated second half of the season cleanly and clearly,” said Eberl.

It is expected that the club will part with a few players if there is a corresponding interest from potent buyers in order to be able to tackle the squad restructuring that has not been going on for a year and a half due to the corona. Even under the former coach Marco Rose, the last back series was disappointing. Under their successor Adi Hütter, Borussia, unchanged in terms of personnel, initially seemed to be on the right path, but then experienced a crash with sometimes bitter bankruptcies such as the 0: 6 against SC Freiburg. According to Eberl, however, Hütter doesn’t have to worry about his job.
