Borussia Mönchengladbach: Does Seoane get an ex-Bayern flirt?

Gerardo Seoane is back in the Bundesliga. The Swiss will be on the bench at Borussia Mönchengladbach next season and is expected to lead the club back to Europe. In order for that to succeed, the 44-year-old could bring a compatriot into the team.

Accordingly, the club is said to have considered Fabian Rieder from the Young Boys Bern. The 21-year-old collected a total of 20 points (nine goals and eleven assists) in 43 games in all competitions last season and has been linked with FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund in recent months.

The track to the two top German clubs is said to be cold at the moment, but Mönchengladbach still has to prepare for a hot race in the wooing of the attacking midfielder.

Other Bundesliga clubs are also hot for Rieder

According to information from the Swiss newspaper “Blick”, Eintracht Frankfurt, VfL Wolfsburg, Seoane’s ex-employer Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin are also interested in Rieder.

However, the foals in Seoane could have an “ace up their sleeve”. The coach enabled Rieder to make his debut in Bern in 2020 and is considered the player’s absolute supporter. Rieder is now a national player for the Confederates and even played at the World Cup in Qatar.

Seoane himself explained to “SRF”: “As with every club, there is a scouting list that is getting smaller and smaller. The Swiss market is very interesting for the Bundesliga. Gladbach has always had very good experiences with Swiss players. Rieder has one played a sensational season and is ready for the next step.”

It is unclear how much Gladbach would have to pay for a transfer from Fabian Rieder. “Transfermarkt.de” puts the value of the native of Bern at around 15 million euros.
