In addition to RB Leipzig and Crystal Palace, there is a new interested party for Jan-Niklas Beste: According to Sky, Borussia Mönchengladbach is also looking into signing the 26-year-old winger from Benfica. A former successful Heidenheim duo could be reunited at the Foals.

Beste has only been playing for Benfica since last summer and alternates between the starting eleven and the bench. He was only allowed to play eight times from the start, and his market value fell from 15 million to 14 million euros in the most recent Portugal update. Benfica paid €8 million, making it the most expensive departure in Heidenheim’s club history. The Portuguese should be ready to give up their best again.
Shortly before the turn of the year it was reported that RB Leipzig and Crystal Palace had him on the list. The Red Bulls are said to have made contact – as did Borussia. There is talk of initial discussions. However, a signing could only be realized if there is a buyer for Nathan Ngoumou. According to the report, there are specific inquiries for the Frenchman, and “Bild” brought Fenerbahce into play.
Best at Benfica only second choice – see you again with Kleindienst?
“The best isn’t used that much because Kerem Aktürkoğlu on the left front and Álvaro Carreras on the left back are some of Benfica’s best players. The best thing was a requested transfer from Roger Schmidt, who was released shortly after signing. These are the reasons why he has a rather difficult time. Even though Beste doesn’t play that much, Benfica would still need a replacement for him, so I would assume that a transfer would take a while,” said Marcel de Almeida, Data Administrator Portugal at Transfermarkt, in the wake of the rumors that emerged.
At Borussia, Beste would meet his former teammate Tim Kleindienst, who moved in the summer for 7 million euros and is one of the best scorers in the Bundesliga with nine goals and five assists. Last season, Beste assisted in Kleindienst’s three goals, making them one of the best duos in the league.
