Borussia Dortmund President Dr. Reinhard Rauball will no longer stand for election at the general meeting in November.

As the association announced on Tuesday, the 75-year-old does not want to run again after a total of 23 years in office and has therefore asked the chairman of the election committee, Dr. Winfried Materna informed. Rauball will replace his previous deputy, Dr. Reinhold Lunow to propose as his successor.

“Every minute of my tenure I have been proud to be president of this great club. For 23 years I have filled this office with a lot of passion,” Rauball is quoted as saying in the club’s statement. “Even though I will be working harder on my career as a tennis and football player again from November, I can assure you all today that I will do everything in my power for the benefit of our club until the last day of my term of office and of course also afterwards will.”

Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke declared that he would treat Rauball’s decision “with the greatest possible respect” and attested him “outstanding services to BVB”.
