Saxony wants to allow more fans again

More fans are to be allowed in Saxony again, the size is not yet clear. Details should not be known until Tuesday after the cabinet meeting, said Minister of Health Petra Köpping (SPD) in Dresden.

On January 24, the federal-state conference announced the decision to develop a “uniform regulation” for fans in halls and stadiums by February 9 at the latest. Saxony-Anhalt, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate have already relaxed the regulations, and Saxony now wants to “at least catch up” with its new regulation, according to the minister.

According to the current Corona Emergency Ordinance, a maximum of 1,000 guests are allowed in Saxony’s stadiums. Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has also submitted an urgent application to the Bautzen Higher Administrative Court against the restrictions in Saxony. Leipzig’s next home game is on February 11 against 1. FC Köln. It was initially unclear whether the Saxon Higher Administrative Court still had to decide on the urgent application or whether RB would react to the government’s announcement.
