England won the European Championship title at Wembley on Sunday. Prime Minister Boris Johnson was not there – and has not planned a reception.

Outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is likely to leave the planning of a reception after the England women’s European Championship triumph to his successors. A Johnson spokesman confirmed Tuesday that no public reception for the Lionesses is planned for this week.

In addition, there is no date or concept for such a celebration yet. Johnson did not watch Sunday’s European Championship final against Germany (2-1 aet) at London’s Wembley Stadium, but was at his country estate in Checkers.

His two potential successors, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, have agreed to organize a reception to celebrate the England players’ success. However, this would not be until September, since the announcement of the new prime minister is not due until September 5th.
