Boom Esports wins Gamers Galaxy Dota Invitational

Boom Esports defeated Tundra Esports 3-2 in the Gamers Galaxy Dota Invitational finals. The Southeast Asian team entered their first Lan tournament since the World Cup as underdogs, but managed a flawless group stage and a commanding run through the lower bracket.

“I’m very proud of the boys but we still have a long way to go. We’re looking at the World Cup and this is just part of the process for us,” said Rolen “skem” Ong in the post-match interview. “I feel great, even though we didn’t practice enough, we still managed to secure the trophy,” added teammate Erin “Yopaj” Ferrer.

After a group win in Group B, Boom was thrown to the bottom half of the tournament by Tundra in the first round of the knockout stages. There the team eliminated Team Secret, as well as Team Spirit and Nigma Galaxy. The second half of the final against Tundra was extremely tight.

Third place was taken by German Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi with Nigma. The organization was also the organizer of the tournament. For the world champions from Team Spirit, it was only enough for fourth place. The Russian organization had to play with a substitute because, according to Miroslaw “Mira” Kolpakov, they could not safely fly out of Ukraine.
