Björn Born has published an autobiography Heartbeat (Siltala). Immediately in his foreword, he transports readers to the mid-1990s and tells about his problem, intoxicants.

Borg has a senior tour of game day.

– In my head, it sniffed, as I ever happened to me, he writes.

– Usually, when I am depressed, I treat it with a recipe I developed myself that contains alcohol, drugs and pills. Now, however, I took too much dose of everyone.

Borg is heading with his father towards the match and notices how “the earth waves”.

– It was as if I had floated in the air and couldn’t move forward. Everything was dark and the worst happened. I died, Borg describes.

– My heart was no longer drummed by pom, pom, pom, but had stopped. Before everything darkened, I have time to think: How did this happen?

Borgin, 66, was rescued.

– I have always felt that two people have fought inside me. A little devil on my shoulder has done everything to pull me deeper from dark to darkest, he says.

– After the collapse, I knew I had the most important match in my life.

Studio 54

Borg reveals in his book that the “regular use” of drugs began in the early 1980s, shortly after the end of his career.

“It originated in Studio 54, where white powder and everything else was available everywhere,” Borg writes in his biography.

– When I tried cocaine for the first time, it offered a cycle like tennis in due course. However, the feeling was new. I became unimaginably upbeat and immediately got hooked.

Studio 54 is a New York legendary nightclub between 1977 and 86 with Borg and another tennis star, late Vitas gerulaitis were familiar guests.

Borg feels that he has found a substitute for a substitute for tennis.

– I didn’t understand how dangerous it was. As a parent and wiser, I know how it destroys a person. I was lucky not to die for it.

Borg won eleven Grand Slam tournaments in his career. He is particularly remembered for the five Wimbledon championships between 1976 and 80.

Björn Borg’s autobiography of heartbeat (Siltala) will be published on September 18th.
