Bologna, transfer market: attack on Atalanta’s Miranchuk if Orsolini comes out

The Russian attacking midfielder has not completely convinced Atalanta and is looking for a relaunch. Mihajlovic’s possible form change is an opportunity for him

Joey Saputo will arrive over the weekend and on Monday, unless postponed, he will personally and officially present the new head of the technical area Giovanni Sartori and the “new” ds Marco Di Vaio, the two “correspondents” of a market not yet taken off. In constant contact with Sinisa Mihajlovic, Sartori and Di Vaio are gradually arranging some pieces: from renewals (Skorupski is imminent, until 2025) to disposals. And a possible sale could make Sartori steer towards a player owned by Atalanta: it is Aleksej Miranchuk, a 26-year-old offensive wild card. Outside Orsolini and inside Miranchuk? Neither obvious nor impossible.

Quality and 3-4-2-1

Quality is the source of ideas and basic principle of Sinisa Mihajlovic’s game (to which his daughter Viktorija, on Instagram, dedicated a verse from the song “Warrior”). Then, in the last championship, it was necessary to swerve towards the “more clean sheet and less blind boarding”, but the feeling is that from the next year the first brick of the new restart is to “score an extra goal”, therefore looking for offensive firepower to enhance it. Like when Sinisa arrived in Bologna in 2019. This is a bit of the hinge on which Sartori and the Bologna coach found the meeting point: no longer 3-5-2 but 3-4-2-1 yes. And it is in this context that the evaluation linked to Miranchuk fits, leaving Atalanta and a qualitative wild card that the new head of the technical area is convinced he can relaunch.

Bear sacrifice?

The last year of the Russian offensive wild card was not a hymn to take off. Two goals only, many pieces of the game in the 19 total appearances with Gasp. Purchased two years ago for 14 million euros, today Miranchuk is a player looking for a raise and who will inevitably have a lower cost: Atalanta took him from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2020 and there is no doubt that something more was expected. Miranchuk from Atalanta will have to leave as well as Bologna will have to draw on the treasury of the transfers if he wants to make this type of investment. Orsolini seems never more distant than near Bologna. The winger is and will be Sassuolo’s first choice in the event of the sale of Berardi (but also of Napoli if Politano comes out) and the amount that Bologna will want to collect (from 12 to 15 million) will become a “nest egg” to give the assault in Miranchuk. The possibility exists, it exists.
