Timo Boll trains hard for his last serve, because he wants to choose the German champion again. It would be a crowning end of his career, and it is tingling, he reveals to me.

I have already decreased from the level. And as a perfectionist, it’s not that easy to cope with. That’s why it already feels right.
The 44-year-old exceptional player can look back on an impressive career. Everything started at the age of three.
We had a record in the basement and of course I also had to go there every day.
At the age of 15 he played Bundesliga, at 21 he was number one in the world, and he took part in seven Olympic games. I get his exceptional talent to feel on the plate. And of course I have no chance. But it is so that I get afraid and try to protect myself. It’s so fast. Despite his incredible success, Boll sleeps in a caravan in front of the training hall because he lives 280 kilometers away in the Odenwald. With a coffee, he thinks about his future.
