Body found in Geleen belongs to missing Gino

The body that was found on Saturday morning at a house in Geleen belongs to the missing Gino (9). The police announced this at a press conference in Maastricht.

The police said earlier that they are taking serious account of the fact that the body found belonged to the missing boy. Gino has been missing since Wednesday night. An amber alert was therefore issued on Thursday.

In the night from Friday to Saturday, a 22-year-old man from Geleen was arrested at his home. He had been identified as a suspect on Friday, police said. Gino was found at his direction.

Gino lived in Maastricht, but stayed with his sister in Kerkrade. According to another sister, the boy went to play football on Wednesday evening at a playground in Kerkrade, near his place to stay. He has been missing since then.
