Outsider Bodø/Glimt creates the sensation

The outsiders from Bodø/Glimt throw last year’s finalists out of the Champions League. Newcastle and Atlético advance to the round of 16.
The Norwegian outsider FK Bodö/Glimt has continued its football fairytale and managed the next big surprise. The four-time champions fought to a 2-1 (0-0) win in the Champions League play-off second leg at Inter Milan thanks to former Frankfurt player Jens Petter Hauge, thus knocking last year’s finalists out of the premier class. Bodö won the first leg north of the Arctic Circle 3-1.
The English club of national players Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw beat Qarabag Agdam 3-2 (2-0) after winning 6-1 in Azerbaijan. The next opponent is FC Barcelona or Chelsea FC. Atlético eliminated Club Bruges with a 4-1 (2-1) win in the second leg (first leg 3-3) and will now face Liverpool FC or Tottenham Hotspur.
In Milan, Inter played for a long time with national player Yann Bisseck to score a goal. In the first half the statisticians counted 12:1 shots, but there wasn’t much that was compelling. Then ex-Dortmunder Manuel Akanji, who was playing with a bandage on his head after a collision, mishandled the ball and the former Frankfurt Hauge scored (58th). Akanji (69th) only hit the post before Hauge set up Hakon Evjen (72nd) to make it 0-2. Alessandro Bastoni (77th) could only shorten the score.
In Newcastle, Sandro Tonali (4th), Joelinton (6th) and Sven Botman (52nd) scored for the “Magpies”. Woltemade played from the start and on the number 10, but despite good actions, did not contribute to the goal. Thiaw was missing due to suspension. Camilo Duran (51′) and, after a hand penalty awarded by Marko Jankovic, Elvin Jafarguliyev (57′) were successful for the guests.
In Madrid, former Leipzig player Alexander Sörloth was outstanding with his hat-trick (23rd/76th/87th). After Joel Ordóñez (36th) equalized for the guests, where Nicolò Tresoldi was in the starting line-up, Johnny Cardoso (48th) put the home team back in the lead.
