Bobic and Windhorst comment on Bernstein’s choice

With the election of ex-Ultra Kay Bernstein as the new president, the Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC heralds a new era. Sports director Fredi Bobic and investor Lars Windhorst have now commented on the new strong man in the old lady.

According to the “kicker”, Bobic and Bernstein had a ten-minute conversation on Sunday immediately after the election. A detailed exchange is to follow in the coming days.

“It’s about everyone pulling together. For me, the area of sport comes first,” quotes the specialist magazine Bobic.

On Wednesday, the “Sport Bild” revealed that the sports director gave his vote to the CDU politician Frank Steffel. According to the report, Bobic’s support for Bernstein’s opponent was partly due to the fact that he was close to investor Lars Windhorst and focused primarily on the economic advancement of Berliners.

Bernstein, on the other hand, was a die-hard Hertha supporter in the fan curves of this republic for years and even looks back on a long history as an ultra.

The 41-year-old was even the lead singer at Hertha home games and was banned from the stadium three times for various offenses as an ultra.

Windhorst: “It can only get better than before”

Investor Lars Windhorst also commented on the election of the new president in “kicker”. The 45-year-old approached the collaboration with Bernstein “openly and without any reservations”. “It can only get better than it used to be,” said Windhorst.

Kay Bernstein received 1,670 votes from the 3,040 members entitled to vote at the club meeting over the weekend. The 41-year-old was thus elected the new president and successor to Werner Gegenbauer. A total of “only” 1280 members spoke out in favor of Steffel, so he was clearly defeated by Bernstein.
