Musician Bob Dylan apologizes for machine-written signatures on his works. Works have been sold hand-signed.

Dylan released a rare statement on Friday in which he said he regretted his “error in judgment”. Dylan said that he started using an automatic pen in his signatures in 2019 when he was suffering from bad vertigo.

It was revealed when fans compared Dylan’s The Philosophy of Modern Song – from the signature in the book to the musician’s old signatures.

In the release, Dylan said that he started suffering from bad dizziness in 2019, which continued during the pandemic. According to Dylan, no safe working space could be found for the team needed for the signing during the pandemic.

Dylan has admitted that some of the artworks are also signed by machine. Works have sold for up to $15,000.

– During the pandemic, it was impossible to sign anything, and the dizziness didn’t make it any easier. As the deadlines approached, I was suggested an automatic pen and was assured that this happens all the time in the world of art and literature, Dylan said in the release.

Simon & Schuster, who published the work, initially refused refunds and assured that the signatures were genuine.

The publisher later admitted that it was a copy and offered a full refund to those who bought the edition.
