Bob Dylan and I are worlds apart

In the pandemic years from 2020 to 2022, the rhythm & blues man from Belfast has finally become a notorious lateral thinker. In his newer songs, which can be found on releases like “Accentuate The Positive”, there are always lyrics that oscillate from know-it-all to global conspiracy. You can also enjoy creative grumbling about evil politicians and dark digital forces.

Even in the 78-year-old’s rare interviews, which are often canceled shortly before meeting unpopular journalists, he is only too happy to be attacked.

Now, in an interview with the traditional forum, “Vintage Rock” is once again moving into musical realms for a change. When asked about the oft-quoted parallels to Bob Dylan, Morrison doesn’t want to know anything about “similarities”.

It’s not just artistic reasons why Bob Dylan plays the guitar less at concerts

The Nobel Prize-winning US colleague is a “songwriter who sings”; while he is first and foremost “a singer.” He emphatically states clearly:

“Well, I’m just not like Bob Dylan! I have always emphasized that I am a singer first and foremost. I am a singer. Right? And I write songs. So Bob Dylan and I are worlds apart. What he does and what I do are not nearly the same.”

When asked about his current cover album “Accentuate the Positive,” Morrison emphasizes that he can only be motivated when topics inspire him. On the other hand, if other people wanted something from him, the fun would stop with him.

Against expectations, he couldn’t help but react.

“If you’re successful, you should be able to do whatever you want. So I enjoy making this music. I’ve always enjoyed it… I just do what I like with music that inspires me and has always inspired me. So there is no particular reason. It’s just what I want to do.

His iron credo: “I can do it, so I’ll do it!”
