After a sensational catch-up race, the team won with Ajax player André Onana in the goal after penalties from Burkina Faso, 5-3. Onana made the decision by saving a penalty. Cameroon had managed to get rid of a 0-3 deficit in official playing time.

Onana initially did not have a great day. The keeper, who did not take much action in the last year, partly due to a long-term suspension, even worked the ball into his own goal at 0-2. Steeve Yago and Djibril Ouattara also scored for Burkina Faso. At 0-3, however, Cameroon came back sensationally. In the last twenty minutes, Stéphane Bahoken and Vincent Aboubakar scored (twice), forcing extra time.
The Africa Cup final will be played on Sunday between Senegal and Egypt.
