It should produce dozens of new songs: a collaboration between the Cuby and the Blizzards (C+B) Museum and Grolloo Radio. Blues, country, and Americana musicians are called upon to create new music inspired by the legacy of Harry Muskee and his band.

“We hope that they will continue to build on Cuby’s music with their own new compositions,” says Fred Lubbers of the C+B Museum. “We want to breathe new life into country, blues and Americana. In this way we hope to create a new trend of Nederblues.” It’s really about new music. “There are already enough covers of Cuby and the Blizzards,” says Lubbers.

The band’s compositions have been put online. Musicians can use them to gain inspiration. The initiative is in line with one of the last wishes of the late singer.

“When starting the museum, Harry said that he hoped it would give new impetus to young artists to write new music. Thirteen years after his death, we now want to take this up.”

The C+B Museum has joined forces with Grolloo Radio. The songs submitted are listened to by both parties and a winner is chosen. Or perhaps multiple winners.

“We want to bring that into the spotlight,” says Lubbers. “Concerts are given here at the museum and at the café twice a year. We want the artists to perform there.”

Musicians can submit their music until June.
