Blowing up a synagogue for 3,000 euros: young suspects had no idea what a Jewish house of worship was

For a paltry three thousand euros, four young men from Tilburg committed an attack at a Rotterdam synagogue and were on their way to a second target. They did not act out of ideology or extremism, as it turned out on Tuesday in the extra-secure court in Rotterdam. After his arrest, one of the suspects said he did not even know what a synagogue was. When detectives told him that was a Jewish church, he said, “Why a church? It’s not doing anything wrong, is it?”
