Blow to John de Mol: prestige project Avastars mercilessly down with only 304,000 viewers | show

In Avastars virtual characters, created by a dancer and singer, perform. The duos provide the sound and movements of the computer-animated performer. The presentation of the program is in the hands of Kelvin Boerma (Kalvijn) and the jury consists of Nicky Romero, Nick Schilder, Simon Keizer and Dan Karaty.

With 304,000 viewers went Avastars very bad start. So it scores less than the previously flopped Ministries and note it down slightly better numbers than the Nix factor, which was moved to the depths of Saturday night earlier this week. It is a big blow for John de Mol, who sees a third talent show fail in a short time on his SBS 6. Just after there were previously good reviews and ratings for The Tribute: Battle of the bands.

The program gets the full layer on social media. Viewers on Twitter are almost unanimously negative about it Avastars. “I thought I was watching a compilation of drunk Sims, but it turned out to be John de Mol’s new hobby,” someone writes. ‘You really have to watch this program on sheer willpower,’ says another. Again someone else compares Avastars with programs that didn’t last long on the tube either: ‘During Avastars I suddenly think how nice Show cola actually was’.

Technology is also affected. Presenter Kalvijn mentions several times that the latest techniques have been used to create the characters, but viewers do not agree. The Avastars are often compared on Twitter to Sims, puppets from the world-famous life simulation game. ‘Only when an Avastar is so lifelike that you see no difference with a real person can this become something,’ writes journalist Ron Vergouwen. ‘And the judges just pretend it’s fantastic. They don’t even see them!’

With only 304,000 viewers, Avastars falls outside the top 25 most watched programs. The best-watched program on the channel was the talk show on Friday Inside today, which was in 11th place with 748,000 viewers. Traditionally, the best-watched program of the day was the NOS News at 8 p.m. on NPO 1, which more than 2.1 million people saw. The police series was in second place Cops Maastricht, which attracted more than 1.5 million viewers to NPO 1. The top 3 is completed by At Van Duin in the backseat on NPO 1, which more than 1.3 million people saw.
