Jan Thomas Jenssen’s eyesight was in danger.
Norwegian Jan Thomas Jenssen found himself in a wild situation in the Ruka 20 kilometer co-start race.
He skied to the finish line looking rough with his face covered in blood. The ranking was 12th.
– I got hit directly in the face by the stick. Luckily I had my glasses on, because if I hadn’t, the stick would have stuck in my eye. The glasses saved my eyes today, Jenssen said.
The skier recalled that the French competitor in front of him gave a strong push with the pole, and then his head crashed. Blood splattered from the nose as well.

– It happened at the end of the downhill, when the group gathered together. I had a lot of speed and couldn’t brake.
– On this track, a large number of skiers pack into a small space. There are poles everywhere.
The situation was not helped by the fact that Ruka’s ski lift was completely frozen.
Did you think the track was dangerous?
– Well, yes, but this is an outdoor sport. There can’t be fresh snow on the track every time. Sometimes it’s snow and sometimes it’s ice. You have to adapt to everything.
Jenssen did not go to accuse the French skier.
– Of course, he didn’t do it on purpose. The same could have happened to me. It’s part of this sport. We are warriors, and we will fight hard, said the Norwegian.
