Blogger Kotov released in Egypt after being beaten in Cairo

Photographer and blogger Arseniy Kotov, who suffered during a conflict with local residents, was released from custody in Egypt. reported in Telegram the Russian embassy in the republic.

“The Russian citizen was given back his passport and filming equipment. Currently, he is in the consular department of the Russian diplomatic institution in Cairo, ”the Russian diplomatic mission said in a statement.

The embassy added that the release of the blogger occurred as a result of the intervention of Russian diplomats, he will leave Egypt on the night of January 28 on a flight to Moscow.

According to Kotov, three other local residents joined the conflict, after which they began to beat him, but he managed to escape from them. Kotov said that he received a bump on his forehead, a wound on the back of his head and scratches on his arm, and also lost $ 100 (about 8 thousand rubles).
