Substitute Mike van Duinen scored the only goal (1-0). He played Ramiz Zerrouki in the 83rd minute and hit beautifully.

Excelsior played with ten men from the twentieth minute after Stan Henderikx was sent off. Henderikx was close to the opening goal in the opening phase. Goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall was just able to tap his shot against the bar.
