Blake Griffin and Chris Paul played together for the Los Angeles Clippers for years and know each other well. The analyst of Prime Video would like to see the veteran point guard on a specific team.
“The crazy thing is you’ve seen him come to Oklahoma City and take on a leadership role, mentor and help the other players learn the game,” the six-time All-Star told the New York Post.
“He did that for us at the Clippers,” Griffin recalled of their six years together in Los Angeles (2011-2017). “The situation was a little different in Houston. He went to Phoenix, and for the first time in ages they had real success there, with Chris Paul as point guard,” the 36-year-old continued. Paul made his teams better every single time.
Griffin also highlighted his time in San Antonio: “CP was in San Antonio and kind of did the same thing. So he proved time and time again that he was the most important factor in the whole situation.” Griffin’s conclusion: Paul would be “great for the Knicks.”
According to media reports, the franchise from the Big Apple is said to have already discussed a trade for the 40-year-old internally. Despite all sporting logic, Griffin admitted that ending his career in New York would be quite strange. “It’s a strange thought. If he were to retire as a Knick, that would be crazy,” Griffin said.
