The Czech Republic felt that it had suffered from bad luck.
– Finland was luckier.
That’s what Czech goalkeeper Josef Korenar said when Leijonat had just advanced to the semi-finals with a score of 4–1.
Korenar later clarified that Finland deserved its happiness.
– They scored the goals they had to score. We only hit once, and that’s not enough in the quarterfinals.
– If you play well and do the right things, luck is also on your side, he said.
The Czech Republic hit the post twice in the final set of the match. It ate striker Lukas Sedlak.
– If the other one had gone in, the game would have been 3-2 and the state of mind would have been different. It was naturally frustrating, Sedlak said.
In goalkeeper Korenar’s opinion, the Czech Republic was also unlucky in its own end.
– We went through Finland’s special situations and starting patterns. We had prepared well, but we conceded two unlucky goals.
Captain Roman Cervenka also highlighted his team’s post shots.
– We had a bad start, and that probably decided the match. Then we got some momentum back and we hit the post a couple of times, but it wasn’t enough.
Josef Korenar was nervous, but he also gave recognition to Finland. Pasi Liesimaa
