Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” sneaked past Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” at the last second to become the most streamed song of 2024 on Spotify.
According to Variety, the “Hit Me Hard And Soft” single ended 2024 with 1,775,172,881 (1.7 billion) streams. The song was streamed 650,000 times more than Carpenter’s “Espresso,” which ended the year with 1,774,525,704 streams on Spotify. Billie Eilish’s label Interscope Records also celebrated the success and announced the good news on the X platform.
“Birds of a Feather” reportedly took the crown as the most streamed song of the year thanks to a big surge in the final weeks of 2024. “Birds of a Feather” was in early December, when Spotify launched its annual “Wrapped” event The list of the top 10 most streamed songs worldwide came in at number three, behind “Espresso” at number one and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” at number two.

“Birds of a Feather” also secured several Grammy nominations, including for “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year” as well as “Best Pop Solo Performance.” In total, Eilish received seven Grammy nominations and is also nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album (“Hit Me Hard and Soft”), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (for the “Guess” remix).
