Bird flu still present

There are also said to be a few dead swans in Bruges.

The virus is very contagious for (water) birds. It is exceptional that people also become infected, only if they come into prolonged and repeated contact with sick animals or their faeces.

Don’t touch yourself

Although bird flu is sporadically spread to humans, The City of Bruges calls on its residents not to touch or transport sick or dead animals themselves.

Anyone who notices a sick or dead animal can report this via 050 44 80 00 or via the permanent number 050 44 80 83. The city services will then arrange for clearance or collection.
