Bird flu again at poultry farm just across the Brabant border

Bird flu has been diagnosed at a poultry farm in Ospel, Limburg, just across the border with Brabant. About 94,000 hens are culled to prevent spread, the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality reported on Tuesday. In October, it also hit a poultry farm in Ospel.

Within a zone of 3 kilometers there are 26 other poultry farms that will be monitored ‘intensively’. There are 129 other poultry farms in the 10 kilometer zone. “Because the company is located in an area where infections have already been identified, measures, including a transport ban, are already in force in this area,” said a ministry spokesman.

Bird flu was also diagnosed at a poultry farm in Ospel in mid-October. Then more than 23,000 turkeys were killed. On Thursday, bird flu was discovered at a poultry farm in Neerkant, near Ospel. To prevent spread, 25,000 laying hens were culled.
