The student conference took place from March 05 to March 7, 2025 for the 14th time. This year the students of the master’s programs were medical engineering, medical computer science, Biomedical Engineering,, Hearing acoustics and audiological technologyBiophysics, robotics and autonomous systems, Medical Microtechnology as well as psychology. 110 students of the University of Lübeck And the Technical University of Lübeck presented the results of their scientific practical projects in front of their fellow students and a jury from science.
Student conference at a high level
The student conference has developed into a scientific conference over the past few years that can keep up with the content conferences of the specialist societies on an equal footing. The students had to apply with a so -called abstract, a kind of short version of their laboratory work
says Prof. Thorsten M. Buzug, head of the medical engineering course, on how to proceed.
Peer review
Then they rated each other their four -sided English articles and made suggestions for improvement that were taken into account by the authors. This so-called ‘peer reviewing’ is an essential part of publications in specialist publishers, where you also have to face criticism and assessment by colleagues. The organizers are also particularly proud of the new possibility that the students can publish their contributions after the student conference Open Access in the new Student Conference Proceedings afterwards.
Awards for posters and lectures
The course manager Prof. Heinz Handels (medical computer science), Prof. Stefan Müller (biomedical engineering and medical microtechnology), Prof. Markus Kallinger (hearing acoustics and audiological technology), Prof. Philipp Rostalski (robotics and autonomous systems), Prof. Christian Hübner (biophysics) and Prof. Nico Bunzeck (psychology), were together with Prof. Thorsten M. Buzug The scientific director of the student conference 2025. They were impressed by the high level of this consistently English -language conference. Together they awarded the best posters and lectures.
Prize winners
The award winners are: Laraib Ahmad (biophysics), Janica von Dietman (biophysics), Steffen Berges (hearing acoustics and audiological technology), Elena Reznikova (Biomedical Engineering) and Titian Adinolfi (hearing acoustics and audiological technology).
The 2025 student conference was organized by the Institute for Medical Technology, the Institute for Medical Computer Science, the Institute for Signal Processing, the Institute for Physics, the Institute for Medical Electrical Engineering and the Institute for Psychology 1 of the University of Lübeck, and the Center for medical sensor and device technology of the Technical University of Lübeck.
