After anti-queer attacks on X, Kaulitz took action – and was proven right by the Hamburg regional court.

Bill Kaulitz took a clear position against the AfD in his podcast – and revealed that he had taken legal action against an AfD politician. In the current episode of “Kaulitz Hills – Mustard from Hollywood” Bill and his brother Tom Kaulitz described it.

Accordingly, a Berlin AfD member received legal advice after he made derogatory and personal comments about Kaulitz on social networks. Bill commented on the matter in the episode with his twin brother, saying, “If you post stuff like that, you’ll get more mail from me.”

Court prohibits defamatory statements

The trigger was several posts on X in which the politician first mocked the Tokio Hotel singer’s hair care campaign and then made personal attacks against his sexual orientation. Kaulitz responded with legal action.

The Hamburg regional court ultimately issued an interim injunction against the AfD MP, who was not further named in the podcast episode. In the court’s opinion and according to Kaulitz, the statements were aimed at deliberately denigrating Bill Kaulitz and clearly exceeded the limits of permissible expression of opinion. The post in question has since been deleted; In the event of further violations, there is a risk of fines.

Clear stance against the right

In the podcast, Bill Kaulitz also made it clear why he did not want to remain silent in this case. Although he doesn’t normally take consistent action against such online attacks, he did consciously want to react to one AfD member. The singer was particularly clear about the political dimension of the statements.

Plus: The Twins had already called on their fans in the past to vote and to take a clear stand against society’s shift to the right.

Right-wing blogs deleted posts after a court order

The case also sparked discussion in right-wing online media. According to “Spiegel”, several blogs and platforms took up the case and accused Kaulitz of wanting to suppress criticism. However, after the court decision, relevant articles and social media posts apparently disappeared from the internet again.

“Kaulitz Hills – Mustard from Hollywood” as a platform for simply everything

The podcast “Kaulitz Hills – Mustard from Hollywood” appears regularly and has been one of the most successful German-language celebrity formats for years. Bill and Tom Kaulitz talk about their lives in Los Angeles, pop culture, relationships, the music business and also political topics.

The brothers repeatedly use this type of platform to comment on social developments. Topics such as LGBTQ+ rights, public hostility or political polarization are increasingly playing a role.
