Shot out of the crisis

Bo Svensson’s debut at FC Copenhagen was a success. In the first game under the former coach of Mainz 05 and Union Berlin, the capital club won 7-0 against Silkeborg IF. Former BVB attacker Youssoufa Moukoko scored a hat-trick.
As reigning champions, Copenhagen missed the championship round introduced in 2020 for the first time in its history, although the club recorded record expenditure of 22.8 million euros this season. The start to the relegation round got off to a bad start with two 1-2 defeats against Odense BK and FC Fredericia, whereupon Jacob Neestrup had to leave and Svensson took over his position. “I dreamed of such a performance from my team. Of course it’s all the better that they showed it on the pitch. It was a really good performance,” said Svensson on “TV2”.
Under Svensson, Moukoko, who came from BVB for 5 million euros, also seems to be getting back on track. In the regular league season, the 21-year-old only scored three times in 18 appearances, so the club was already considering selling him. Against Silkeborg he opened the scoring and followed up with the fourth and fifth goals. In the relegation round he has four goals in three games. Moukoko told Viaplay: “The fans and the players are happy because we haven’t won in so long. Today was the right day to change that and I’m really happy with the win and my goals.”
