A real star is participating in the New Year’s competition. Nigel de Jong, director of top football at the KNVB, will participate in the match between the ex-internationals and Royal HFC. It is De Jong’s debut in the New Year’s competition in Haarlem.
In the past, many big names have participated in the competition at Spanjaardslaan. Johan Neeskens, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank de Boer and Ruud Gullit, among others, participated in the match between the ex-internationals of the Dutch national team and Royal HFC.
The women also play a match with ex-internationals. They will compete against the Royal Haarlem All Stars, a regional women’s selection team. The internationals are led by national coach Andries Jonker, who was a trainer at Telstar last year.
The New Year’s competitions will be completed on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Spanjaardslaan in Haarlem. More players will be announced in the near future.
