Reese Witherspoon is already said to be working on the third season together with colleague Nicole Kidman.
Reese Witherspoon revealed during an interview on the red carpet at the 81st Golden Globes that HBO’s Big Little Lies will be getting a third season.
Witherspoon announces new season
Along with her 20-year-old son, Deacon Reese Phillippe, Rees Witherspoon was interviewed by Variety at the Golden Globes event and asked about the possibility of a “Big Little Lies” sequel, whereupon she stated that she is currently working on it . Specifically, she said in the conversation: “We are working on it. Nick [Nicole Kidman] and I worked a lot on it.”
Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are both protagonists and the executive producers of the US format. The plot was previously based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Australian author Liane Moriarty. In focus: Five mothers of school starters who have to navigate their way through everyday life and at the same time become involved in a mysterious death. In addition to Kidman and Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz also starred in the first two seasons.
What will Big Little Lies be about next?
It is still unclear whether there will be cast expansions in the new episodes, what topics the episodes will focus on and when the third season will actually be released.
