The handball players of the SG BBM Bietigheim are German champions for the third time after 2017 and 2019. Coach Markus Gaugisch’s team won 33:21 (17:13) against VfL Oldenburg in their own hall.
With a ten-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund, the Bietigheimers can no longer be ousted from the top of the Bundesliga by the end of the season. Gaugisch’s team, who is also the women’s national coach, has won all 24 Bundesliga games this season and is clearly leading the table with 48:0 points.
On May 28th and 29th, the Swabians also have the chance to defend their title in the DHB Cup. In the semifinals of the Final Four in Stuttgart they meet Thüringer HC. In the second semi-final duel Oldenburg plays against Buxtehuder SV.
