  • The Biathlon World Cup is considered the highlight of the season. Since 2023, with the exception of the national rankings, there are no longer any World Cup points for the World Cup competitions.
  • The Biathlon World Championships always take place in years when there are no Winter Olympics.
  • The first Biathlon World Championships took place in Saalfelden/Austria in 1958.
  • Nove Mesto is hosting the World Cup for the second time after 2013.
  • Germany has hosted the World Cup eight times so far: 1966 (Garmisch-Partenkirchen/BRD), 1967 (Altenberg/GDR), 1979 (Ruhpolding/BRD), 1985 (Ruhpolding/BRD/Men’s World Cup), 1996 (Ruhpolding), 2004 (Oberhof ), 2012 (Ruhpolding) and 2023 (Oberhof).
  • The most successful World Cup participant of all time is Ole Einar Bjørndalen. From 1997 to 2017, the Norwegian won a total of 20 gold, 14 silver and eleven bronze medals – more than any other ski hunter.

  • The most successful World Cup participant of all time is Marte Olsbu Røiseland with 13 gold and four bronze medals, which she won from 2016 to 2023.
